Amorphic Stump Tables Scrool down page to view all
Our amorphic stump tables are characterized by their shape. The top being an irregular, undulating or amorphic shape.
Diameters of top and height is determined by end use. i.e. Cocktail table, side table, or dining.
Our typical finish is ultra fine. The finish starts long before liquids are used. Ultra fine multiple step sandings bring the natural wood grain out first. Often, we then start with hand rubbed oils, further enhancing the grain. Then for ease of maintenece a hand rubbed satin sheen poly is applied.
Depending upon client preference, the smaller cracks may be left open. Cracks small enough not to tip a glass, in the case of a side table. At other times we are asked to fill the cracks and natural cavities. The upper part of this table top you can see two holes that were filled with clear.

Not all pieces may have worm holes. But, they all have fascinating character. Wood graining is spectacular to view on any amorphic shaped piece like this. This, because the cut of the piece is near the roots where original tree growth takes place. It is during this growth period of time that the wood grain is curving and swirling. Burl, is not uncommen.
When contacting us concerning such pieces; please refer to amorphic stump table, it's intended use ie dining side, etc. And and apprx size.
