Mary's stump table
An inverted plain stump table
One of the more exciting types of pieces that I work with. Stumps.  I call this style of  table simply, "plain stump" tables. Not to be confused with "root" tables, although you CAN see the root structure of this particular piece rather well. More about plain vs root stump tables HERE.

A root table, however, has intricate roots sticking up and down and around vs a stump table, as above, has been sawn just below the roots leaving a flat wood surface. Sometimes a hollow such as the photo, below .It is the wood grain of this flat surface that captures my attention and holds me spell bound, at times.  The graining at this location of a tree is incredible.. !! Absolutely incredible...It swirls and turns and runs in circles (burl, it is called)..

I have yet to find a piece of this type (plain stump) of any speci of tree that is not beautiful.
Costs for such table bases range from  $1,700.00 for a small coffee to $2,700.00 to accommodate a 50" to 60" glass top. Ship costs are additional and range in cost from $250.00 to about $500.00, depending upon size, weight, etc.. Glass may be purchased locally, if you wish.
These pieces, as all our stump type tables are throughly processed ( more ).
